So, without further ado, let's dive in!

Can You Take My Picture?

This phrase that I'm about to teach you will come in handy if you're traveling to Indonesia and you want to take a picture of yourself. You can say this phrase,

Maaf. Bisa tolong fotoin saya?

[Maaf] here means [excuse me]. This is a polite way in the Indonesian language when you want to ask someone to do something. But in other cases, [maaf] means [forgive me]. But in this case, we usually use [maaf] when we want to ask someone to help us out with something in a polite way.

Let's hear how to pronounce this phrase in the video below.

Another option that you can use is to change [maaf] with [permisi]. So, the phrase will become like this one.
Permisi. Bisa tolong fotoin saya?
Let's hear how to pronounce this phrase in the video below.

[Permisi] is used when you want to get someone's attention in a polite way. If you're with your friends and want to ask somebody that you don't know to take pictures of you and your friends, you can say this.
Maaf. Bisa tolong fotoin kami?
[Kami] means [we]. And here is how you pronounce this phrase.

Or you can change [maaf] with [permisi].
Permisi. Bisa tolong fotoin kami?
And this is how you pronounce it.

And that's it, the colloquial way of Indonesian people asking someone to take a picture of them. Formal way, you can say this, but I don't recommend it because it sounds too formal and sounds too stiff.
Permisi. Dapatkah Anda memfotokan saya?
Or this one if you're with a group of friends.
Permisi. Dapatkah Anda memfotokan kami?
Anda is a formal way of saying [kamu]. In the colloquial way that I just taught you, we usually omit the word [Anda].

So, I think that's all for now. I'm giving you the formal way just so you know the formal way of saying it. If you have any questions about this topic, just make a comment in the comment section, and I'll be happy to answer it. Thank you very much.
